I was so excited to sit down with Kristi at EdCuration and do a podcast interview about one of my favorite EdTech companies- ALEE! Meet Marjorie McKeown, a former teacher, school leader, founder of ALEE, and a Transcend Fellow (TF13)! Marjorie has spent 10+ years in education and is a certified literacy coach. She started her career as a special ed teacher & coordinator at Lighthouse Academies and went on to become a school admin for multiple institutions. She was the founding middle school principal for DREAM (formerly Harlem RBI) and went on to serve as their Managing Director of Schools before joining Matterlab as their President. She also recently completed her graduate studies from MIT Sloan School of Management. As founder and CEO of ALEE, Marjorie is building a tech-enabled but teacher-first digital tool that supports teachers with high-quality literacy instruction. ? ALEE supports teachers by providing research-based, expertly curated instructional materials for novels in their entirety. Their resources are differentiated to meet the needs of a wide range of learners and their content is adaptable so that teachers are empowered to make the best instructional decisions for their students. CCC hosted an expert panel of educators, including Marjorie McKeown, Ellen Brooks, and Kimberly Andersen, to discuss the importance of authentic content and its role in K-12 education.
