Having an emergency plan is crucial for everyone, but especially for families with special needs. This includes packing a bag with doctor and service provider contacts, medications, comfort items, and more. It's also important to practice escape routes to ensure everyone can get to safety quickly if the worst happens. https://lnkd.in/emA9-rk3

When a child receives a diagnosis, it often brings a rush of thoughts and emotions. Some fear that accepting the diagnosis means giving up on the child or losing hope for change or a better future. Michael J. Fox teaches us that acceptance is not about surrendering or giving up. Instead, it’s about acknowledging the present reality with a mindset of resilience and focusing on finding a way forward.

This is a question parents often ask, and we love this question!! At My Team ABA our goal is that the staff are working hard but your child is seeing sessions as fun with a friend. During play your child is practicing decision making, teamwork, sharing, communicating, interacting, waiting, attending, self-regulating, and just so many other skills that will help them at home, at school, everywhere they go. They are learning how to ask a friend to play and how to let a friend know what they don't like. And they are learning it in ways they can then actually use with their friends. Play is one of the most natural learning opportunities for children, so we encourage our therapists to incorporate play into sessions.
