Since 1978, My Sisters’ Place (MSP) has worked to end violence in intimate relationships and combat the effects of domestic violence and human trafficking on women, men, and children throughout Westchester County. MSP evolved from a grassroots task force and drop-in center into a cutting edge leader and resource in the field of domestic violence advocacy, shelter and legal services and education and prevention. MSP strives to end domestic violence and human trafficking through comprehensive services, advocacy, and community education. MSP works to create a world in which every individual has basic human rights to be free from gender based violence and to engage in relationships that embrace the principles of respect, quality, and safety.   • Let's talk about the services that MSP provides!? ? Our emergency hotline is open 24/7 and can be reached at: 800-298-7233 (SAFE). We also offer a text and chat line that is available Monday-Saturday 10am-10pm. Our emergency shelter is open 24/7 and is open to survivors of all genders. ? ? We offer free legal consultation and representation to survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. We are able to provide assistance with family and immigration law.? ? Our family services unit is able to provide advocacy and case management, clinical counseling for families, support groups, and in-office childcare while a guardian is receiving services.? ? Through our education and prevention team, we are able to provide trainings to youth groups, schools, service providers, government agencies, community organizations, religious-based groups, and more.   • Let's talk about the history of MSP! We are so proud of our past and are excited for our future!? ? ____________? ? 1976- Our founding mothers created the Yonkers Women’s Task Force (YWTF). The group consisted of local women who helped those leaving violent partners.? ? 1978- In just two years, the YWTF grew to meet the demands of Westchester. The group opened up the first shelter for survivors of domestic violence in the county and began running a crisis hotline.? ? 1986-We become My Sisters’ Place and we’ve been called that ever since! We love this name because it allows survivors to say something like “I’m going to my sisters’ place,” and allows them to remain safe.? ? 1997-We launch our legal services department! Our team offers free legal representation and advice for survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking.? ? 2016-MSP partners with the White Plains Police Department to provide immediate intervention of survivors that are in high-risk situations.? ? _____________? ?
