Why frame it so negatively? One person's control freak is another person's structure enthusiast. We appreciate you structure enthusiasts more than you know! You remember all the deadlines, you always follow naming conventions, and your electronic files are in perfect order. You never run out of batteries for your mouse and wireless keyboard. Your desk drawers look like Monica Geller curated them. Every office needs at least one structure enthusiast, or it all falls apart. It's 2025 and the possibilities are endless! Here's some ideas on making your paralegal life even better this year, to implement, or not, you know you best: 1. Take an online course on a topic that actually interests you! 2. Get up from that desk and go for a nice walk every day. 3. Listen to an audio book during your walk, one that truly intrigues you, not one you think you should listen to because someone else says you should. 4. Become an absolute master of at least one software application/SaaS. Know everything there is to know about it. Become Saas-y! 5. Attend more continuing legal education and networking events in person. Build your people skills. Be genuinely interested in the people around you. Listen more than talk. 6. Have at least one plant in your office and name it, water it, feed it, make sure it gets enough light. Then think of yourself as that plant. 7. Practice just saying "No" with charm but no apologies.
