As schools gear up for a new academic year, it's crucial to prioritize safety measures. The American College of Surgeons recommends that schools are equipped with trauma gear and staff trained in life-saving first aid procedures. Bleeding is the most common cause of preventable death from trauma, and in several studies, bleeding control is the most readily learned, applied, and retained skill. It was an honor to be part of Tradewinds '24 in Barbados, supporting the annual training exercise for allied nations in the Caribbean. My Medic provided crucial training in air medical evacuation, patient packaging, rope rescue, lifting and moving, and bleeding control training for military and civilian first responders from partner nations. Additionally, My Medic donated Everyday Carry bleeding control kits. Collaborating with various organizations like the Barbados Department of Emergency Management, Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), Barbados Fire Service, Barbados Defence Force, Jamaica Defence Force, Mexican Navy, Canadian Armed Forces | Forces armées canadiennes, MINDEF (NL), Regional Security System, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Diplomatic Security Service, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and many others made this experience truly rewarding. https://lnkd.in/e9aWRXbT

Many, many thanks to the donors that supported the Armada del Ecuador Search and Rescue Program. Today, LIFT Non-Profit Disaster Logistics and My Medic Training + Response delivered critically needed search and rescue equipment provided by donors, including My Medic and Good360, in Baltimore. We delivered this equipment to the Guayas, the Ecuadorian Navy's flagship training vessel, for delivery back to Ecuador. Your support is saving lives in Ecuador!!

It has been a privilege to support Tradewinds '24 over the last two weeks in Barbados. Tradewinds is an annual, United States Southern Command Command sponsored, multidisciplinary training exercise for allied nations in the Caribbean. My Medic supported air medical evacuation, patient packaging, rope rescue, lifting and moving, and bleeding control training for partner nations' military and civilian first responders. My Medic also donated our Everyday Carry bleeding control kits. It was a privilege to plan and execute this exercise with the Barbados Department of Emergency Management, Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), Barbados Fire Service, Barbados Defence Force, Mexican Navy, Canadian Armed Forces | Forces armées canadiennes, the Regional Security System (RSS), US Army, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Diplomatic Security Service, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

With gangs controlling most of Port-au-Prince, including the primary ports of entry into Haiti, the medical supply chain is severely constrained. As a result, hospitals across the country anticipate running out of medicine nationwide by the end of April. To remedy this constraint, we are supporting LIFT Non-Profit Disaster Logistics, Haiti Air Ambulance, and Sunrise Airways to deliver life-saving medicine through alternative first and last-mile routes, including last mile helicopter airlift. Today, the partners airlifted critically needed cold chain insulin to a Partners In Health hospital within 24 hours, start to finish. This work is not without danger. Pilots run the risk of being shot en route. However, the risk of inaction is greater as many people will die without medicine. Many, many thanks to the pilots and operators willing to take this risk.

Thank you everyone who has contributed to our effort to better equip search and rescue personnel in the Galápagos Islands. We received three great half back slings from a helicopter rescue program in Virginia. These half backs will allow search and rescue workers to stabilize a patient while hoisting the patient. Providing training and equipment for first responders saves lives!
