?? Exciting Developments in HIV Treatment: Weekly Dosing Shows Promising Results! Gilead Sciences and Merck & Co. have reached a significant milestone with their once-weekly HIV combination therapy, showcasing sustained viral suppression over 48 weeks. This therapy combines Merck’s islatravir with Gilead’s lenacapavir (marketed as Sunlenca), marking a shift in HIV care from daily to weekly dosing. ?? Why It Matters to IHDLab: At IHDLab, we’re dedicated to improving access to high-quality, innovative lab solutions that address pressing healthcare challenges. Reduced dosing frequencies like this once-weekly option align with our goal of providing accessible, patient-centered lab testing. This treatment model also speaks to the core of our work—empowering patients with more convenient and impactful care options, especially in under-served communities. ?? Clinical Impact: The therapy’s effectiveness was demonstrated with 94.2% viral suppression at 48 weeks, on par with Gilead’s once-daily Biktarvy. This success points toward a future where reduced dosing frequency provides improved support for patient adherence and quality of life. ?? What’s Next? The therapy is now entering phase 3, with pivotal trials involving 600 patients. This trial phase could bring us closer to a new standard in HIV treatment, setting the stage for broader adoption of less frequent, impactful care. We’re excited to share that we have been selected by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) as an awardee of the #SprintForWomensHealth! ?? Nura Health, with consortium partners Lasa Health and Dama Health, will receive $3 million in funding through the initiative’s spark track for early-stage research. The consortium of Nura Health, Lasa Health, and Dama Health aims to develop a comprehensive precision medicine platform that accelerates the early diagnosis and personalized treatment of endometriosis. By combining non-invasive diagnostic tools, advanced patient phenotyping, and personalized pharmacogenetics, the platform seeks to transform how endometriosis is diagnosed and treated, significantly reducing the time to diagnosis and providing effective, individualized treatment plans. "This project is deeply personal because endometriosis affects millions of women, yet so many face years of pain and uncertainty before receiving a diagnosis,” said Varun Kapoor, MD, MBA cofounder and CEO of Nura Health. “By accelerating early detection and tailoring treatment to each individual’s needs, we hope to fundamentally change the standard of care and improve lives.” The ARPA-H #SprintForWomensHealth is addressing critical unmet challenges in women’s health, championing transformative innovations, and tackling health conditions that uniquely or disproportionately affect women.
