关于我们
We empower women to learn their breast density and cancer risk. Unfortunately, most women are unaware that dense breast tissue is a risk for breast cancer, and standard screening methods will find less than half of all cancers. We want every woman to know. My Density Matters was founded by Leslie Ferris Yerger, diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer in November of 2017, two months after an 'all clear' mammogram and ultrasound. Her cancer was hiding in dense breast tissue, left undetected to grow and spread. Leslie wishes she knew this before her breast cancer diagnosis, and she doesn't want her story to become your story. Visit our website to learn more about how we save lives by providing education and empowering women with tools to find out their breast density, learn their screening options, and insist and persist until they get proper breast cancer screening. 2 things you can do right now: 1. Breast Cancer Screening Guide to help guide you to your next steps in the breast cancer screening process: https://mydensitymatters.org/breast-cancer-screening-guide/ 2. Text: Check Your Chart to 211411 To access additional educational content about breast density, additional screening, and more. Check Your Chart? is an education to ACTION initiative and platform inspiring women to obtain their mammogram report from their online patient portal, learn their breast density, and communicate with their doctor(s) to collaborate on additional breast cancer screening.

"My entire world shattered that day- all I can think of is my poor little babies, they need their Mommy. I am one year out from my double mastectomy, and I would never let a friend or loved one wait even a day for further imaging. Dense breasts need more imaging- end of story." - Dania Francis Dania's story matters. Read Dania's story. https://lnkd.in/gfJNq2kb #mystorymatters #mydensitymatters #checkyourchart

Sheila's story matters. Sheila is sharing her story so that it doesn't become your story. Empower yourself to know your breast density. If you have dense breasts don't stop until your physician is confident that you've had the proper screening. Be sure that if you have cancer it is found early while still curable. Let's all support the American College of Radiology today! They are asking their members to mobilize by contacting their national Congressperson and Senators - urging them to pass 3 key critical pieces of legislation by the end of the year. One of those key pieces is the Find It Early Act which calls for full insurance coverage with no cost sharing for essential additional screening for women with #densebreasts. What we've all been wanting for so long! Let's all rally and help make it happen! You want to help but are not sure how? Here is a quick and easy way: https://lnkd.in/gTU6Y5pU https://lnkd.in/gG2RSVTT

Bravo! Thank you AdvaMed for advocating for essential additional screening for those on Medicare with #densebreasts. Cost, lack of insurance coverage, is such a huge barrier for women needing additional imaging to find their #breastcancer early. #mydensitymatters #checkyourchart https://lnkd.in/eGNwA2Ud

Kathy's story matters. (And we are so glad you found it early!!) "I had gone for my annual screening mammogram. I was given the news that it was fine. At that time, the radiologist’s assistant told me that due to dense breasts, I qualified for a study involving a mammogram with contrast solution. Subsequently biopsy indeed showed a small (1cm) tumor. I can’t help but think how so many of us with dense breasts are given the all clear following a traditional mammogram." - Kathy Read Kathy's full story https://lnkd.in/gfJNq2kb #mydensitymatters #checkyourchart #mystorymatters

Great summary here in the The Radiology Review by Dr. Matthew Covington. An excerpt is below, but the whole short article is worth a read! ----- The ACR - American College of Radiology Appropriate Use Criteria have just made notable advancements in their recommendations for supplemental breast cancer screening beyond traditional mammography for those with dense breast tissue. Among the key updates, two stand out: For individuals with extremely dense breast tissue and an average lifetime risk of breast cancer, both abbreviated and full protocol contrast-enhanced breast MRI are now classified as “usually appropriate” for supplemental screening. Those with heterogeneously dense breast tissue at intermediate lifetime risk are now also candidates for MRI screening with a “usually appropriate” rating. ----- Slowly but surely we make progress toward the achievement of our vision - a world where #breastdensity no longer hinders the early detection of #breastcancer. #mydensitymatters #checkyourchart https://ow.ly/ni1A50TYTPA
