?? Founder Spotlight ?? Cara Finger has dedicated her life’s work to raising awareness about the foster care and adoption system. Surprised and saddened by the frequent practice of foster children transporting their belongings in trash bags, Cara was moved to #EndTheTrashBag. Disappointed by the scarce secondhand luggage donations and limited resources available to foster families, Cara called on talented designers and manufacturers to create a product anyone would be proud to carry. Together with the overwhelming support and creativity from the foster care community, Cara founded My Bag My Story. Join Cara Finger on Jesus Calling podcast ?? https://lnkd.in/ezwyqVKM

Did you know that 62% of children are removed from their homes due to neglect? While many assume that physical or sexual abuse is the main cause, neglect remains the leading factor. By spreading awareness, we can work to support vulnerable families before it's too late. Together, we can break the cycle and provide much-needed help to these children. Parental drug use is another growing issue, accounting for 33% of foster care placements in 2022. Regions hardest hit by the opioid crisis have seen foster care numbers soar. In fact, five out of six states with the highest opioid overdose death rates have experienced increases in foster care placements, with West Virginia leading the way in both. Children from low-income families are five times more likely to experience maltreatment than those from higher-income backgrounds. Poverty and foster care involvement are deeply connected, which is why supporting biological families can make a huge difference. Preventing maltreatment before it begins is key to keeping families together. Maltreatment trends related to drug use, poverty, and neglect are all on the rise, making it more important than ever to support foster care systems and the families they serve. Join us in raising awareness and making a difference today. My Bag My Story is dedicated to restoring dignity for these Foster Kids and their families, make an immediate difference today by donating a backpack or duffel bag on our website: www.MyBagMyStory.com
