C-Suite to Project Manager at My Amazon Guy: My journey to a more balanced career. Before joining MAG, I was previously in a C-suite position in another company, but I resigned from my post so my wife and I could plan our wedding. Six months before my wedding date, MAG came knocking with an opportunity that promised flexibility and work-life balance that I needed. At first, I was unsure if I would grab the opportunity aside from the obvious pay cut, but mainly because of my skepticism about whether they could provide the balance I needed. Six months since my wedding, I am still at MAG and utilizing the flexibility and balance that I enjoyed since day 1 at MAG. All my doubts has been since filled with content and happiness. Here at MAG, aside from the flexibility and balance I am currently enjoying, I am also in awe of how I am enjoying working with people within the organization. Maybe I was put in the right pod with the right people at the perfect time. And I must say that having attended the MAG summit and built personal relationships with other people in the organization has been a great help in making my experience a lot better. The MAG summit has also been a major factor in why I considered to work at MAG. This is a unique event that is not just an enjoyable event but also an event that builds bridges that can result in a more productive workplace. I just hope that the MAG summit can happen more consistently, but the bridges built at the last summit have been one of the catalysts in my productivity in the organization. After years of working in soul-draining office settings, this is my first WFH job—and it’s been life-changing. When the pandemic hit in 2020, I began praying for one thing: "Lord, give me a work-from-home setup." 2021 passed—still praying, but no opportunity came. 2022 passed—still praying, but nothing changed. By 2023, I prayed less frequently, busy with my previous job. Then, a friend sent me an invitation to apply at My Amazon Guy (MAG). I hesitated because I had no experience for the role, but I’m so grateful that I was given the chance to become an intern! Fast forward to today, I’m still with the company that believed in me. MAG has taught me to step outside of my comfort zone and embrace one of their core values: learning. I’m especially thankful to God for answering my prayers—even if it took years. We may forget, but He never does. And thank you, MAG, for giving me a chance to leave behind long commutes, overtime hours, and weekend shifts. “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” This is truly the best way to describe how My Amazon Guy changed my life. Graduating right after the pandemic, finding a job was a struggle. I spent months trying to figure out the path I should take, but still couldn’t determine where or how to begin. I’ve always wanted to find a work-from-home job. Beyond spending more time with my family, working onsite for years had worn me out. I was tired of waking up early to prepare for work, leaving the house hours before my shift, and getting stuck in traffic during my commute. And let’s not even talk about the exhausting journey home after a long day. Just thinking about it made me feel like I couldn’t do it again. So, I decided to become a Virtual Assistant, but the road to getting there is no walk in the park. With no experience in the field, landing a job was more difficult than I had imagined. I applied to countless V.A. agencies, underwent numerous training sessions to hone my skills, and attended many seminars to equip myself with knowledge. Yet, the path still felt long and rough. Despite my efforts, experience seemed to be the biggest hurdle keeping me from landing a job. I felt disappointed and began to think that a virtual job might not be for me. Just when I was on the verge of giving up, I came across My Amazon Guy. With no expectations, I decided to try my luck. Maybe it was divine intervention, because I got in as an Advertising Intern. As a fresh graduate with zero knowledge of Amazon or advertising, it felt like a door had finally opened for me, and MAG welcomed me with open arms. To be honest, not many companies are willing to offer jobs to those with no experience, but I guess MAG is just built differently. This opportunity has not only helped me grow professionally but also improved my work-life balance, allowing me more time for myself, the things I enjoy, and, most importantly, my family. I will forever be grateful to MAG and Steven Pope for giving me the opportunity to start. Everything I know now—the skills and knowledge I’ve gained—are all thanks to this wonderful community of great people who are always willing to help and share.
