Today is National Pi Day! Our employees are enjoying tasty pies to celebrate this day! Pi is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter and?is equivalent to 3.14 or π and actually goes on forever.

We are proud to announce that Christina Raschko, CLD, IALD, LC, LEED AP from Escent Lighting Design is a recent recipient of the Certified Lighting Designer (CLD) designation. This certification is the first evidence-based credential in architectural lighting design in the world. It assesses whether an individual can operate as a lead architectural lighting designer in a professional and proficient manner while demonstrating proficiency in multiple domains of practice. In the summer of 2023, MW was proud to partner with Spokane Public Schools on a Washington State Department of Commerce grant to provide a 68kW solar array on the roof of Linwood Elementary School. The array was completed, courtesy of Ellensburg Solar, in February of 2024, and for the past year, the system has been online, producing clean energy. The system ultimately produced 78,422 kWh of solar energy this past year, 7% above the estimated output. To put it in perspective, this small array provided enough electricity to power the average household for 7.5 years and saved 122,000 pounds of CO2 emissions!?

Here's a group picture from a recent team outing to Mount Spokane Ski and Snowboard Park, where we calculated velocity, acceleration, and launch angles during an epic night of skiing in a snowstorm! Every project is a unique set of problems and possible solutions – we strive to stay fresh for every challenge!

It was an incredible experience being part of the design team for the hybrid operating room project at Deaconess Hospital! MW is proud to have designed the mechanical system that supports this advanced medical environment, and we are excited to see how the new operating room will improve patient care. MW has partnered with INTEGRUS on a multi-phase restoration and addition project for the City of Spokane Water Department’s campus in central Spokane Washington. This involves new MEP systems, including water-cooled VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) coupled with DOAS (Dedicated Outdoor Air Systems) equipment providing space conditioning and ventilation utilizing the city’s domestic water as a heat transfer medium, at the same time maintaining strict water cleanliness standards. This approach will result in sustainable HVAC systems, ultra-low operating costs, and energy efficiency for the Water Department’s buildings.

MW is proud to share that the new US Embassy in Colombo, Sri Lanka has been awarded LEED Gold Certification.
