Wonderful recent success story from cross-sector collaborations! #meta #ocha How population density maps of Facebook's Data for Good (in the absence of census and other data from official bodies), powered by AI and satellite imagery, enabled humanitarians to reach people in need of assistance. "By adding a layer of data on water collection points from mWater and adding a 500-meter radius around each water collection point, World Vision could calculate the number of people living with 500 meters of a water point and determine potential areas of unserved households for new water points."

?? Haiti: Innovating for Better Access to Water and Sanitation ?? ???? In Haiti, access to safe water remains a challenge: 68% of urban areas and 48% of rural areas have access to drinking water, while only 49% of the population benefits from basic sanitation services. Despite obstacles such as insecurity and climate change, significant progress is being made through innovative initiatives. With the #SIRWASH program and the mWater platform, supported by the Inter-American Development Bank and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (COSUDE), Dinepa Dinepa is transforming the management of WASH services with: Simplified and transparent data collection from the field,? Real-time visualization to support decision-making,? Investment prioritization based on objective needs. ?? Integrated into the #SIEPA system, mWater is a key driver for sustainable access to water and sanitation, especially in rural areas. The day began with an insightful orientation session on “mWater conducted by @Zach Torres at the Grand Mustafa Hotel, Sylhet. The orientation offered valuable insights on mWater to enhance project monitoring and data management. Day 2: November 18, 2024 The second day featured a productive and inspiring field visit to Kurbannagar in Sunamganj AP, where a WASH project funded by World Vision USA WASH Base Fund is making a significant impact. During the visit, the team had the opportunity to observe the implementation of WASH initiatives and participate in a practical hands-on session on mWater guided by Zach Torres. The field visit not only deepened our understanding of WASH project implementation but also highlighted the potential of mWater as a tool for enhancing monitoring and community engagement. It was a memorable and enriching experience for everyone involved. Thank you!

Led by Fahmi Yanuar Faridz and Maqvira Achmad from Solstice Institute, the session focused on introducing our Asset Management and Water Quality & Quantity Monitoring tools.? Harnessing the power of data to drive change in the world’s most vulnerable communities! World Vision is proud to join forces with Meta and OCHA Centre for Humanitarian Data to bring advanced digital mapping to communities that need it most. This impact story highlights how geospatial mapping allows us to see where water services are lacking, to focus and track our efforts more effectively, ensuring clean water reaches even the most remote communities. Meta’s high-resolution dataset—co-developed with Columbia University and hosted by HDX—overlaid with World Vision's water point data in mWater, offers unparalleled insight into water access, and we’re committed to reaching everyone, everywhere we work with sustainable WASH services in line with SDG 6. Notably, through close collaboration with the Rwandan government, we achieved universal water coverage across 39 subdistricts, impacting over 1 million people.
