This week, four talented Airports Authority apprentices were honored at the White House during the kickoff of National Apprenticeship Week! The U.S. Department of Labor’s inaugural Apprentice Trailblazer Program recognized 57 individuals for their commitment to skilled labor careers. Among them were our very own: ?? Jose Florian Gudiel – Reagan National Heavy Equipment Mechanic ?? Matthew Kanhai – Dulles Electronics Technician Apprentice ?? Jonathan Viera – Dulles Electrician Apprentice ?? Omar Bustillo – Dulles Electrical Apprentice Attendees shared stories about their professional journeys and accomplishments, received pins and certificates of recognition from Acting Secretary Julie Su, and proudly represented the Airports Authority at this event. Together, we’re building a strong foundation for the next generation of skilled professionals. Cheers to two years of taking the Silver Line to Dulles International Airport! ??????

Washington Dulles International Airport is set to play a key role in United Airlines largest international expansion yet. In a recent announcement, United Airlines shared the addition of three new nonstop routes from IAD, including United's first flight to #Dakar, Senegal, starting May 23rd. With this route United will now fly to more destinations in Africa than any other U.S. carrier. Additionally, travelers can look forward to nonstop flights to #Nice and #Venice starting May 2025. #DecadeOfDulles

Last week we proudly joined forces with the United Service Organizations (USO) to assemble 1,000 care packages for U.S. troops stationed overseas. Together, we packed snacks and essentials to bring comfort and a small taste of home to those preparing for deployments far from friends and family. This event was more than just packing supplies—it was an opportunity for us to honor the service and sacrifice of our military members and to create meaningful connections in support of their journeys.

On this Veterans Day, we honor and thank those who have served our country to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day. From our Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority family to yours, we wish you a Happy Veterans Day!
