Yesterday, MVS, Inc. helped prepare and serve their Thanksgiving Dinners at the Club, and served as one of the food suppliers. They served over 800 Thanksgiving dinners to families in Santa Ana! Recently, MVS, Inc. and our CEO, Eric L. Goodman, were awarded as the Small Business division honoree at the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Orange County’s National Philanthropy Day Orange County awards! Here is a transcription of Eric’s acceptance speech: “I want to thank God, my family, my team at MVS, AFP OC and NPD committee/judges. 33 years ago, I was lying in a hospital bed recovering from a life saving surgery. I had my spine fused and metal rods inserted in my back. I was in a body cast for 9 months. I had to have physical therapy to learn how to walk again. I was, and am, disabled. Why do I share this? Because my company MVS services around 500 homes for developmentally disabled adults and children with their food and medical supplies. We also serve hundreds of nonprofits with our services. Philanthropy is not only about the money you give. But about using your resources to help others. We use our team, trucks, building and network to help others. Last year MVS was awarded [Orange County Business Journal’s] OC Family Business of the Year. This year, I was honored as Philanthropist of the Year in OC. Today’s honor is the icing on the cake. I admire Douglas Freeman, Charles Antis and all the other honorees past and present. It’s my life’s mission to help others in need. My disability does not define me, it motivates me.
