Statement from Military Veterans in Journalism MVJ's Cocktail Hour membership session last Thursday evening was disrupted by an unknown person who used disgusting hate speech, racial slurs, and unsavory images to derail our event. This person specifically targeted one of our members, Caron LeNoir-Kelly. We are horrified and deeply condemn this behavior in any form, especially in spaces meant to foster connection and learning. MVJ is committed to creating a safe and respectful space for all members. We are contacting Zoom to investigate this unacceptable incident and have already implemented enhanced digital security measures to protect our future conversations. We will reschedule this webinar and we will share updates soon on the steps taken to ensure your safety. Please reach out to us directly—we’re here for you. We apologize for this disturbing occurrence and are resolute in ensuring it never happens again. Together, we stand for respect in our amazing community.
