关于我们

Miami Valley Community Action Partnership was established as a nonprofit corporation in December 1964, with the passage of the Economic Opportunity Act. The goal was “the elimination of the paradox of poverty in the land of plenty,” and created Community Action Agencies to focus all available local, state, private and federal resources on empowering low-income people to attain the skills, knowledge and opportunities required to lead more productive lives and become self-sufficient. Miami Valley Community Action Partnership has an operating budget of approximately $13 million, more than 100 employees and an 18-member Board of Trustees. We are affiliated with the National Community Action Partnership, that represents more than 1,000 Community Action Agencies across the United States who share our goals.

As a part of both #CommunityActionMonth and #InDemandOhio , Director Lydia Mihalik and the Community Services Division team met with the Miami Valley Community Action Partnership and toured their weatherization training facility. MVCAP along with the Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development use the facility to train people to complete lead remediation and weatherization work. The Weatherization Training Center provides classroom, lab, and field training as well as on-site technical assistance to Home Weatherization Assistance Program providers in the HWAP network. COAD and the OWTC is one of six training providers granted funds through the Lead Safe Ohio program. MVCAP not only focuses on Weatherization efforts but also extends its support through various Development programs such as the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP), Low-Income Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP), Community Services Block Grant (CSBG), and Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) Program.
