Let’s give Julie Dash her flowers! ?? It’s been over 30 years since Daughters of the Dust changed the game. As the first feature film by a Black woman to get a general theatrical release in the U.S., it didn’t just break barriers—it set a whole new standard for storytelling. Julie Dash’s vision and the cinematography of Arthur Jafa gave us a stunning portrait of Gullah women in 1902, blending culture, history, and artistry in a way we’d never seen before. Her work continues to inspire filmmakers and storytellers to this day. Here’s to the legacy of Daughters of the Dust and the trailblazer who made it happen. #JulieDash #BlackCinema #FilmHistory

Natasha Rothwell is making moves, not just talking about them. ???? For her show How to Die Alone, she hired an incredible lineup of women directors of color, proving that change in the entertainment industry doesn’t happen by hoping—it happens by doing. Hollywood says the talent isn’t out there, but Natasha showed the truth: they’re there, and when given the chance, they shine. ?? #HowToDieAlone #ForUsByUs #ChangeTheGame #RepresentationMatters
