Really good piece on the importance of critical thinking skills (and really all durable skills) in the age of GenAI. I like the components of critical thinking mentioned and they overlap with the definition in the Education Design Lab taxonomy we use in our work. GenAI also opens up new ways to develop and validate these skills, which plays into the methods for teaching critical thinking mentioned in the article. Interesting about face from NYC schools on GenAI, now planning to integrate it into all of its operations including teaching and learning. Also interesting that it is presented as a "direction" and a signal to AI companies that the system wants to hear about their offerings.
