We’re pleased to spotlight National Native American Human Resources Association (NNAHRA) in recognition of Native American Heritage Month. What started out as a grassroots effort of four Tribes meeting to share challenges and struggles within the Indigenous Country, NNAHRA has grown to over 2,000 members representing over 400 Tribes! Now in its 28th year, NNAHRA advocates for Native American Tribes facing ongoing challenges that threaten Tribal sovereignty and jurisdiction and their right to self-govern and achieve and maintain self-sufficiency. We applaud NNARHA’s work and are proud to help support their efforts through our partnership. Learn more about NNAHRA here https://ow.ly/WUhu50Uc7j0 #NAHM

Discipline. Respect. Accountability. Compassion. Loyalty. These are a few of the core values the military instilled in our Veterans Day spotlight, Dominick (Nick) Persico, a Marine Corps veteran and an employee of over 30 years at Mutual of America Financial Group. Impressed by the positive and profound transformation Nick witnessed in his friends who had enlisted, Nick joined the United States Marine Corps (USMC) in 1983 upon graduation from high school. While in the Corps, Nick specialized as a Field Radio Operator—a telecommunications expert responsible for establishing communication between on-field and off-field teams, detecting the location of distressed ships and aircraft and much more. After three years of service, Nick received an honorable discharge as a Lance Corporal. The regime, discipline and work ethic instilled in Nick while in the Marines continue to serve him in his professional career and in all aspects of his life. To this day, Nick is especially proud of the day he graduated from boot camp and became a member of the USMC. Coincidentally, his graduation fell on November 10, the Marine Corps’ birthday and one day prior to Veterans Day. Nick’s mother and two sisters were there to witness the special occasion, making the trip from southern Florida to South Carolina. “For me, veterans want to be appreciated, to know our efforts were not in vain and to know our country is worth so much more,” says Nick. This Veterans Day, we honor the countless individuals who have served our country, including those in our Mutual of America family, especially Dominick Persico for his service and for sharing his journey with us. #VeteransDay

“Access to Good Jobs for All” was the theme for National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), recognizing that good jobs change lives and that all workers, including those with disabilities, deserve the opportunity to obtain and succeed in them. To celebrate NDEAM, we chatted with Von Harris, a DEI Specialist and a Senior Operations Manager at TBWA\Chiat\Day in NYC. Von exemplifies the meaning behind #NDEAM with his unwavering commitment to championing the rights of individuals with disabilities not only in his job but as a life coach and advocate for people with disabilities. In our Company-wide webinar, Von shared how he removes barriers and fosters inclusivity at work and in his community. Thank you, Von Harris, for advocating so brilliantly for people with disabilities!
