Congratulations to our partners at California Coalition for Rural Housing and all the advocates who helped support #SB1187! After nearly a decade of operating Mutual Housing at Spring Lake—which stands as an internationally-recognized success story in partnership with the California Department of Housing & Community Development and the State's Joe Serna, Jr., Farmworker Housing Grant Program—we have seen firsthand the importance of creating flexible housing policy to break the cycle of housing instability and inequities for historically marginalized communities. We applaud the leadership of Office of California Governor Gavin Newsom and Senate President pro Tempore Mike McGuire on these critical housing and homelessness issues. https://lnkd.in/gHwtzwMi
?? Breaking: SB 1187 (McGuire), Tribal Housing Reconstitution and Resiliency Act, has been signed!??? California will be creating the first ever Tribal Housing Grant Program. CCRH highlights the work Tribal leaders and other supporters have done in achieving this monumental goal.

It was our pleasure to join with our partners Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento and Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency to share insights about Cornerstone. We appreciate the Deputy Director taking time to get a firsthand look at the innovative 100% affordable rental/home ownership project and neighborhood transformation.
Very honored to welcome Office of Management and Budget Deputy Director Nani Coloretti to Sacramento for a tour of several signature projects recognized as national models effectively utilizing federal resources—award winning Mirasol Village and Cornerstone, and Riverview Apts, a RAD conversion project. In total these projects provide 658 mixed income multifamily rental and 18 affordable homeownership units. #sachabitat #mutualhousing #nanicoloretti #tiaboatmanpatterson #lashelledozier #cityofsacramento #sacramentocounty

“We reached out to everybody from different sides of the city, different neighborhoods, different areas, different time frames.” ICYMI, our partners at Capitol Area Development Authority (CADA) and Mutual Housing California collaborated with local graffiti artists, including Gabriel Lopez, to transform the walls of a vacant State-owned building into nearly 360 degrees of community-art, viewable anytime until early 2025. The event helped highlight the importance of integrating community art into places that too often left blighted by property owners for years while real estate deals take their often multi-year or even decades-long course to finalize. Together, the California Department of General Services, City of Sacramento, CADA, and Mutual Housing are helping ensure the creative economy of the State and Sacramento thrive. Located at 8th and R Streets in Downtown Sacramento, the site will be further transformed into the 241-unit Monarch affordable housing community—with construction starting February 2025. Check out the story below to learn more about the Labor Day weekend graffiti jam and several of the artists, courtesy of Sacramento News & Review. https://lnkd.in/gEz68-E5

We’re excited to share that Cornerstone, a Mutual Housing and Habitat for Humanity Community has been selected as the Best 2023-2024 Affordable Housing Real Estate Project by Sacramento Business Journal. We’re proud to be honored for Cornerstone and our leadership in developing innovative affordable housing models. With over 400 residents now calling the Cornerstone community home—between the 108 affordable rental apartments and 18 Habitat single-family houses—it is our partnership and collaboration with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento, Sunseri Construction, and Salazar Architect Inc. that has made such a deep community impact possible. https://lnkd.in/gr8igzVy
