Evolution, Programmable, and Possibilities: Building Mustard Glasses i1v2 Products are all about evolution. They’re about taking feedback, reimagining the problem, and evolving until you hit something that resonates deeply. That’s exactly what we’ve been doing with Mustard Glasses. When we started with i1v1, we focused on audio and wellness—a promising entry point that helped us understand the market and gather invaluable feedback. But as we listened to users and assessed the space, we realized something: audio alone wasn’t enough. People wanted more. They wanted tools that empowered them to do more with less, a device that wasn't just smart but flexible, purposeful, and inspiring. So, we went back to the drawing board. Enter i1v2—Mustard Glasses, programmable now with a camera and integrated with openAI and Perplexity expanding to multiple other LLMs for multimodal input with an enhanced vision for creativity and productivity. This pivot wasn’t just about adding features; it was about reimagining what smart glasses can mean for everyday life. Note: I love cooking(hence the name mustard) so made the first demo on how I see the future of assisted cooking, next time will incorporate Antony Bourdain's way in the default prompt. From Idea to MVP: i1v1 with Audio and Wellness Making glasses transition from a passive accessory to an intelligent, intuitive companion requires big leaps—but also the humility to start small, learn fast, and adapt. When we began our journey, we envisioned Mustard Glasses as a seamless everyday companion. Our first step? Hack it! get an existing product and add our fine tune of on audio, wellness, and speakers only. Why? Because we wanted to show a demo and get response, that's the only way I have learned to get feedback. By narrowing our MVP to these core features, we were able to: 1. Test how audio experiences and speakers could integrate with everyday activities without being intrusive. 2. Explore wellness applications, like helping users track and improve their posture and if it's possible to track screen time. 3. Experiment with immersive audio for productivity—integrate it with voice-based LLMs to ask anything and to stay focused. This phase wasn’t just about building—it was about getting something on the hands of users quickly and listening. Users had strong feedback towards 1st and 3rd points, they were so impressed the next immediate question was that they were asking if it could do something specific to their work. While this MVP taught us a lot, Meta's glasses was catching up and we soon realized that our vision has to be bigger than just audio and wellness. It was about giving people boundless control and creativity with their devices, therefore we went back to drawing board and Restarted the prototype. Excited to be a beginner again! Meet Mustard Glasses. For decades, our relationship with technology has relied on inputs and intermediaries—from keyboards and touchscreens to dedicated buttons. With each new device, we’ve simplified how we access information. Think back 20 years when the smartphone emerged as a gateway to the internet; now, we believe a smaller intuitive wearable is set to become the gateway to intelligence itself. Simpler swipes, taps, or dedicated triggers—just an effortless, hands-free connection to what you need, when you need it. We’ve spent the last six months working on this thesis, exploring how glasses can transition from a passive accessory to an intelligent, intuitive companion.
