So here’s a new one… It took a minute to figure out why we were getting an email from US Foods. ?? This is a perfect example of why NOT to pay for a list of email addresses. The fact that Mustard & Moxie is a marketing consultancy is publically available information, but the person (or, more likely, computer) who culled our contact info didn’t bother to do that much research. Email marketing is NEVER effective when you start with a list of addresses you bought from a third party. Nurturing qualified leads by sending subscribers useful information is a far better way to acquire — and retain — customers. Another point to note: it’s illegal to send marketing emails to California residents if they have not opted in to your email list, so US Foods is breaking the law here as well. #emailmarketing #leadnurturing #mustard
