We are so proud to welcome Shannon Schrecengost to the team as Music Workshop's Education Partnerships Manager! Shannon Schrecengost is a life-long lover of music with a background that blends her knack for sales with her service-oriented, education-driven, and equity-enthused mind. A percussionist from the age of 10, she is grateful for the extensive role that music and access to quality music education has played in her life (even though she retired her drumsticks for dancing shoes a few years back). With over a decade of professional experience that blends non-profit community outreach, higher education administration, and corporate sales, Shannon came aboard the Music Workshop team to put to work her personal passions of music, education, and supporting teachers and learners alike. In her free time, Shannon engages in the local ecstatic dance community and gives back in service as a weekly young-adult grief group facilitator. She is passionate about empowering others to explore radical self acceptance and be their authentic selves. She may have put down her drumsticks years ago, but she never stopped marching to the beat of her own drum. Welcome to the team, Shannon!!! Reinventing K-8 music history and appreciation. We are breaking the mold of traditional approaches to music history and appreciation by bringing broader cultural relevance and fresh perspectives into K-8 classrooms. Music Workshop provides teachers with free access to high-quality, culturally responsive music education, because we believe it’s important to cultivate a love of music in students from a young age. Our work empowers teachers to bring an innovative approach to music history and appreciation in their classrooms and inspires students to enrich their lives through music. Music Workshop creates culturally responsive music education programming that prioritizes representation and inclusion. We want all students to see themselves in the music and have the opportunity to discover instruments, genres and musical influences from around the world. We strive to make music education fun for students and teachers alike. With fresh and relevant material, we inspire them to be creative and expressive as they explore the world of music together. As of November of 2022 we are currently educating over 4 million students throughout 10,000+schools throughout 94 countries.
