MusiCares is deeply saddened by the loss of Quincy Jones. He was a musical titan and advocate to multiple causes, including his Quincy Jones Listen Up! Foundation. It was an honor to recognize Quincy as the MusiCares Person of the Year in 1996 for his extraordinary musical and philanthropic legacy. Quincy attended numerous Person of the Year galas across the years, as he joined MusiCares to celebrate distinguished peers and collaborators inspired by his work. Quincy will be greatly missed, and our thoughts are with the Jones family and the many members of our music community that were fortunate to call him a friend. Photo by Jeffrey Mayer/Getty Images

As we enter the holiday season, MusiCares recognizes that while this time of year can be filled with joy, it can also bring stressors such as grief, financial worries, loneliness, and unrealistic expectations. We’ve added a seasonal support group to our year-round, free, weekly, virtual support group offerings for the music community! Our goal is to provide a virtual, supportive environment where participants can openly discuss the unique challenges that the holiday season often presents, and share practical strategies and coping mechanisms. Join us and Lyn Rowbotham, Phd, LMFT every Wednesday for the next 6 weeks for our virtual, hour-long Navigating the Holiday Blues Support Group, in partnership with ASCAP. ?? ?? To sign up, reach out to our group leader at [email protected]. ?? Learn more about the variety of #supportgroups and more #mentalhealth resources that @musicares offers: https://grm.my/3KLYywH

The results are in! This year's MusiCares Foundation Wellness in Music survey gathered nearly 2,800 responses, highlighting crucial insights into mental health, financial wellness, healthcare access, and substance use trends in the music community. These results wouldn’t be possible without the music professionals that participated and shared their insights with us, and the community that spread the word about the survey. MusiCares’ Health & Human Services team will use the information gathered to inform our programming, so that we can best meet the needs of the music community. To everyone who made this possible, we are so grateful! ?? Learn more about this year’s Wellness in Music survey results: https://grm.my/3YHvBLr?

This September, MusiCares was honored with the Partners in Service Award by Miriam's House at their annual Polo in the Palisades. The event raised vital funds for a community partner that we admire so much – Miriam’s House Los Angeles, a nonprofit sober living home for women and their children. MusiCares was recognized for its partnership in promoting health and recovery within the music community, closely aligning with the mission of Miriam’s House. We’re grateful for this remarkable recognition, and look forward to continuing our mission-based work for music professionals in need alongside incredible organizations and partners in our communities.
