Julianna Margulies, a member of the Museum’s Board of Trustees, has designed a scarf that is inspired by “I Never Saw Another Butterfly: Children's Drawings and Poems from Terezin Concentration Camp, 1942–1944” as a part of @echonewyork’s Echo100 series. Speaking of her choice of this butterfly design, Julianna has said: “This design is for the memory of the Children of the Terezin Ghetto who dreamed that they would one day see butterflies again.” $100 from each sale of each scarf will be donated to the Museum’s Holocaust Educator School Partnership (HESP). HESP is a paid internship program where undergraduate and graduate students in the NYC & tri-state area are trained on how to teach the history of the Holocaust and then work with middle and high school students in public schools to understand this history. 关于我们
The Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust is New York’s contribution to the global responsibility to never forget. The Museum is committed to the crucial mission of educating diverse visitors about Jewish life before, during, and after the Holocaust. As a place of memory, the Museum enables Holocaust survivors to speak through recorded testimony and draws on rich collections to illuminate Jewish history and experience. As a public history institution, it offers intellectually rigorous and engaging exhibitions, programs, and educational resources. The Museum protects the historical record and promotes understanding of Jewish heritage. It mobilizes memory to teach the dangers of intolerance and challenges visitors—including more than 60,000 schoolchildren a year—to let the painful lessons of the past guide them to envision a world worthy of their futures.

Did you know that our Holocaust Education School Partnership (HESP) program now extends to the tri-state area? Schools located in the tri-state area can receive virtual pre-visit presentations from HESP interns who are also located in New Jersey, Connecticut, and New York. It is important to the Museum that we reach as many schools and students as possible, and this new virtual tri-state initiative helps us achieve that. Learn more about how you can book a virtual pre-visit for your tri-state area school at: mjhnyc.org/HESPVisit

Amid a rise in incidents of antisemitism in the city and across the globe,?New York City Councilmember Julie Menin, the Gray Foundation’s Mindy and Jon Gray,?and?the?Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust?have joined forces to launch a groundbreaking Holocaust Education School Tours program for all 8th-grade students in New York City public and charter schools starting this fall. This $2.5 million initiative will provide critical education about the global history of antisemitism and propaganda, factors that precipitated the Holocaust, while fostering opportunities for students to reflect on the relevance of historical events to contemporary issues. This program will be offered entirely free of charge to schools and builds upon the Museum’s extensive 26-year history of serving New York City and tri-state area schools through enriching exhibition tours and Holocaust education programs. The partnership will allow the Museum to serve over 85,000 public and charter school 8th graders over three years. https://lnkd.in/gaHH4ynJ
