The Museum of Tolerance is proud to facilitate?free Open Enrollment courses for California educators. Last month, the Museum hosted "Speaking Up: Interrupting Bias at School," led by Sara Wicht, an expert in social justice and anti-bias education. Participants had the opportunity to use a variety of school-based scenarios and discussion prompts to practice strategies for speaking up from positions of authority and to authority in school settings. Speakers such as Sydney Rogers, a trans activist and facilitator, spoke to educators about their influence in the classroom to interrupt biased language. This summer, 17 talented teens from Los Angeles and beyond have dedicated six weeks to learning and training to become discussion leaders and tour guides. Tours are available Monday through Thursday during the weeks of July 15th and July 22nd, starting at 11:30 AM in the Museum lobby. The Simon Wiesenthal Center and Museum of Tolerance are proud to share a recent international collaboration. Last month, representatives from the German Police Union visited Los Angeles to meet with the SWC and MOT in response to increasing anti-Semitism in Germany and the US. The visit included several key components: ? Training on identifying and responding to anti-Semitic incidents ? Strategies for combating digital hate ? Tour of the Museum of Tolerance for the German Police Union to study modern prejudice and discrimination ? Meeting with the LAPD Police Union to discuss roles and department history ?
