Changing What's Possible in Cancer Care.
关于我们
As one of the leading cancer treatment centers in the Southeast and the only National Cancer Institute-Designated Cancer Center in South Carolina, Hollings Cancer Center at the Medical University of South Carolina combines the full range of cancer specialties to deliver a higher level of care to the patients we serve. Our team of more than 60 sub-specialists – each concentrating on a specific discipline of cancer treatment and care – works with individual patients to develop customized treatment programs that target a broad range of conditions. Our specialists work together as a team, often meeting with patients under the same roof on the same day. We are striving to deliver the highest level of care in the best way possible.

When Hollings' Dr. Marvella Ford and SC State University's Dr. Judith Salley launched SC CADRE, they envisioned building a research infrastructure at SCSU and creating a pipeline of new cancer researchers focused on cancer disparities. Today, we're celebrating with SCSU that Dr. Courtney Thomas has become the first SCSU researcher in modern memory to be awarded an independent NIH grant. She is researching the role that the protein?calreticulin (CRT) may play in prostate cancer.

A team of MUSC Hollings Cancer Center researchers has discovered one way in which triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells become resistant to immunotherapy and have tested a two-pronged treatment strategy that was able to restore sensitivity to immunotherapy in a preclinical model. The team, led by Besim Ogretmen, Ph.D., SmartState Endowed Chair in Lipidomics and Drug Discovery at MUSC, reports its findings in Cell Reports.
