I scheduled a meeting six weeks in advance, only to have it canceled an hour before. When I followed up as a potential client and asked if this is how a potential deal would proceed, I was labeled "aggressive." The individual, someone in the industry, referenced my "no worries" response to the cancellation—suggesting that should suffice—while advising me on how this is not how you build a name in business - yet it was their lack of follow-up that sparked this. The irony of an annoyed reaction to being held accountable by someone who didn’t honor their commitment is hard to ignore. I’m not interested in working with those who say “look me up” to prove their worth. I seek partners—people who build together, not apart. This experience reinforces a key lesson: unreliability and defensiveness, especially when challenged, are red flags.
