Yesterday, the AAA municipal benchmark 30-year yield jumped > 15bps for only the fifth time since mid-2020. The extreme volatility that surrounded the pandemic created large swings in momentum, which weakens the visibility of the sometimes significant losses that have followed days when the 30-yr yield has jumped more than 15bps. Among the last 13 instances of the 30-yr yield increasing >15bps, there have been four times when losses have exceeded -2% over the following 5-trading sessions. Price change is measured using MMA’s 11-15yr price index.?

MMA's Chart of the Week: Sharp declines in equity indexes continued to garner headlines amid fears of a recession as a result of Trump’s tariffs and spending cuts. Bond yields have also come down as investors seek safety. At the start of January, MMA’s AAA 10-year benchmark yield was 3.11%, and as of today the 10-year yield sits at 2.94%. #fixedincome #municipalbonds #chartoftheweek?
