On Monday, twenty of our mechanics participated in a training session to brush up on their rigging and small crane techniques. This safety training was conducted by Mike Dudek from MJD Safety Services at our facility, with oversight from our Safety Coordinator, Greg Dillon.

Wayne Martin and Sean Butler have spent the weekend with crew of five building a 25MGD emergency raw water bypass to combat the threat of “frazil ice” on the Delaware River. These five 12” diesel driven pumps will assure that Trenton Water maintains a source of raw water for their plant while dealing with these unusual conditions. Frazil ice is a collection of loose, randomly oriented ice crystals, typically a millimeter in size or smaller, with various shapes such as disks, dendrites, and needles. It commonly forms in turbulent rivers during winter when supercooled water causes the temperature to drop below freezing. The turbulence helps keep the crystals suspended in the water, preventing them from floating. Frazil ice is known for blocking water intakes, as the crystals can accumulate on intake screens. SATURDAY POST! That's right we work on the weekends at MMC. This morning we mobilized a crew to a customer in dire need of a submersible wastewater pump. Our Equipment Sales Division engineers supplied a GRUNDFOS pump from our personal STOCK. Then our mechanics and electricians were on-site within hours of the call to get the customer back up and running. This large vertical turbine pump received the full treatment of Belzona NSF-61 approved coatings, which will improve its performance and extend its life. When we are unable to source a part for our customer's equipment, we have the ability to make it ourselves. We also choose this option when the price or delivery time is unreasonable. In this instance, the machine shop is preparing to mill a keyway in a replacement pump shaft. This process has significantly reduced the delivery time for this repair by several weeks.

This isn’t a Halloween costume. Our Pa Account Manager, Wayne Martin, donated his time today to fight a forest fire in PA. Wayne was called in as a Sawyer (saw specialist) to help with an active fire. Thank you for your service Wayne!!! Great stuff!!
