The Mungo family started building new homes in Columbia, South Carolina in 1954, and now builds in Markets throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia. While still family-run today with Steven Mungo as CEO, Mungo Homes proudly became part of the Berkshire-Hathaway family of companies in 2018, and remains dedicated to building quality, comfortable homes. Mungo Homes has a long tradition of improving the communities in which we build, and through the Mungo Homes Foundation provides economic, educational, health, housing, and emergency hardship support to charitable organizations. A portion of each home sold is invested in each local community.

Tuesday was a very special day as Retired U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Tyler Welty received the keys to his mortgage-free Mungo home in partnership with Military Warriors Support Foundation’s (MWSF) Home4WoundedHeroes program and Wells Fargo! As Mungo Homes Savannah Market President Fred Bricketto said, “Helping SFC Welty and his family secure their forever home is a small token of our gratitude and reflects our commitment to giving back to the communities we build in, and especially to those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.”

Congratulations to our Columbia Division who was again (more than 15 times!) named Best Builder by readers of Columbia Metropolitan Magazine! The regional magazine for the Midlands of South Carolina in print since 1990, CMM also again named Mungo's flagship neighborhood, Ascot, as the Best Community and Palmetto Shores, another Mungo community, as runner-up.

We are excited to announce that Geoff Shiley has assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer. Shiley succeeds long-time CEO, Steven Mungo, who will now act as Executive Chairman for the company. Shiley most recently held the titles of President and Chief Operations Officer and, almost 20 years with Mungo Homes, has served in numerous roles, including Builder, Production Manager, Sales Manager, Division President, and Regional Division President. “It’s an honor to step into the role of CEO,” said Shiley. “I am deeply committed to carrying on the legacy that Steven and his family have built over the past 71 years. I have seen Steven embody the philosophy that family and faith come before work, and his focus on taking care of one another extends to every employee, homebuyer, and partner. I look forward to his continued guidance as Executive Chairman as we forge new paths of growth and innovation.”

The Mungo Charlotte team hit another milestone this month - starting homes! Shoutout to Chris Rose, ITSM for building our strong trade partner base from scratch this year, and making sure we were ready for this day. Our goal coming into 2024 was to start our first homes in Q4 - it was tight, but we got it done! Now it's Richard Dively, Bryan Gedney and team's time to shine and get our first model complete and ready for Jumana A. Kayed and Kevin Glover to sell! Very proud of this team and blessed to have such great people around me!
