MIC Members in Action: American South Capital Partners (ASCP) – a Sustaining Member – and Infinity Real Estate Management formed a financing partnership to acquire and renovate a 1,068-unit affordable housing portfolio with assets located in #NorthCarolina and #SouthCarolina.? ? Infinity received an $18.75M investment from ASCP and will use a portion of the investment to fund interior and exterior improvements across the portfolio including new appliances, cabinets, and flooring. The portfolio consists of seven communities built between 1968 and 1973 ranging from 81-200 units. Upon completion, 100% of the units will be affordable to individuals and families earning 60% or less of the area median income (#AMI), qualifying the investment for 100 percent of Community Reinvestment Act Credit.?? ? “Maintaining this housing as affordable – as well as improving the quality of the housing – was crucial to ASCP as an investor. This investment is making a tangible impact on the lives of the families living here. We’ve been true to our mission. We hope this new partnership with infinity only continues to grow and impact more families across the South,” said Deborah La Franchi, ASCP Managing Partner and SDS Capital Group CEO.? ? The MIC team had the pleasure of sitting down with Sydne Garchik, the powerhouse founder, president, and principal of MRK Partners - a prominent real estate investment and management firm specializing in the acquisition, repositioning, preservation, and creation of affordable multifamily properties across the nation. ? ? In our exclusive interview, Sydne breaks down what it really means to be resident-centered, the impact of this approach, and how stakeholders can achieve it. We asked her, “What can multifamily owners and operators do to achieve a resident-centered approach at their communities?" ? Sydne’s advice: Start by completing a resident needs assessment at each community. Knowing where you are now helps you plan where you want to go. Create space for social interactions and events to help residents build a sense of belonging. Offer educational and professional development opportunities to support upward mobility. Lastly, build long-term partnerships with local employers, schools, and community organizations. These connections can provide residents with valuable resources, job opportunities, and mentorship to support their personal, financial, and professional success.?? ?
