Is Texas really on the verge of becoming the "Movie Capital of the World" or has someone been telling tales out of school? I took a deep (in-the-heart-of-Texas) dive to find some answers for Louisiana and everyone else. ?? ?? #Louisiana #Texas #Film #Incentives #TaxCredits https://lnkd.in/gztGsYuU

关于我们
Originally founded in 2017, just before Patrick Mulhearn decided to take a second tour of duty working for the State of Louisiana to help the local film industry become more self-sustainable and permanent, Mulhearn & Associates is an entertainment industry consulting firm. Its mission is to connect content creators to capital and to make Baton Rouge the nation's capital for independent filmmaking. A 23-year veteran of Louisiana's film and television industry, Mulhearn ended his state service in April of 2023 and now offers his unique understanding of content creation through tax mitigation (and tax mitigation through content creation), developing creative ecosystems, and turning great stories into motion pictures. His passion for diversifying Louisiana's economy, reversing the state's brain drain, and growing the local crew base has made him one of the regions top advocates and informational resources for career-connected learning in the entertainment industry. A 2015 inductee into the LSU Alumni Hall of Distinction and a diehard Tiger fan, Mulhearn offers assistance to student athletes from all state colleges and universities looking for opportunities to work in motion pictures filming in Louisiana thanks to the new rules for NIL. And he is the first call for productions who are interested in casting them. Why the four-leaf clover in the logo? "I always say that I would rather be lucky than good. But like everyone else, I find that the harder I work, the luckier I get. And I'm Irish. No, I don't pull for Notre Dame. Geaux Tigers!"

Stories from the good old days. ?? #Louisiana #Film #Podcasts #ThanksTomCruise
Picture this: Tom Cruise, speed-walking, meets a sound guy with a cigarette and a whole lotta confidence. The result? The birth of an idiom. Patrick Mulhearn recounts the legendary encounter between sound guy Michael Russo and the Tom Cruise. A crew story from 2012, when Oblivion filmed in Baton Rouge. #ThanksTomCruise #MovieMaking #FunnyStories #CelticStudios #BatonRouge #Filmmaking #FilmIndustry #BehindTheScenes #MovieStories #FunnyStories #Comedy #CrewStories #LouisianaFilm #IndieFilm #HollywoodStories #Oblivion #MovieSetStories #SelfConfidence #ConfidenceIsKey #CrewStories #BehindTheScenesStories #FilmHumor #FilmCrewLife #SetLife #MovieMaking

As I expected, the Louisiana-lensed “Nickel Boys” was nominated for Best Picture and will compete for the big one at the 97th Academy Awards in Los Angeles on March 2nd. Congrats to all the Louisiana cast and crew who worked on the production! ?? According to ChatGPT, this marks the 10th movie that was filmed in Louisiana and nominated for Best Picture by the Academy. The list includes: 1. “A Streetcar Named Desire” (1951) – Nominated at the 24th Academy Awards in 1952. 2. “JFK” (1991) – Nominated at the 64th Academy Awards in 1992. 3. “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” (2008) – Nominated at the 81st Academy Awards in 2009. 4. “Beasts of the Southern Wild” (2012) – Nominated at the 85th Academy Awards in 2013. 5. “Django Unchained” (2012) – Nominated at the 85th Academy Awards in 2013. 6. “12 Years a Slave” (2013) – Nominated at the 86th Academy Awards in 2014. 7. “Dallas Buyers Club” (2013) – Nominated at the 86th Academy Awards in 2014. 8. “The Big Short” (2015) – Nominated at the 88th Academy Awards in 2016. 9. “Green Book” (2018) – Nominated at the 91st Academy Awards in 2019. 10. “Nickel Boys” (2024) – Nominated at the 97th Academy Awards in 2025. It also another reason why we really do need a “Louisiana Entertainment Hall of Fame and Museum” to celebrate and preserve our creative culture and film history. It is also a reminder that Louisiana has the locations, infrastructure, incentives, and experienced crew to help talented filmmakers turn out a product of the highest quality. ?????? #Louisiana #Oscars #Movies https://lnkd.in/g4vqWfGb

REAGAN currently has a 98% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes…with only 19% of critics declaring it fresh! ???? This is truly one of the biggest eye openers of my professional career. Maybe corporate Hollywood is to be forgiven for being so out of touch with audiences in Middle/working-class America. When you base your creative and financial decisions on personal politics and the opinions of critics outside of Middle America, you ignore the little things like Ronald Reagan was extremely popular and loved by millions and won every state but Minnesota in 1984. If you only see “Red” or “Blue” while green-lighting projects, you are definitely leaving “green” on the table. ???? Their loss is a big win for independent financiers and filmmakers in general. It is proof positive of what’s now possible for getting great stories told. I’m proud of my friends and clients at Alluwee Productions in Louisiana as well as Showbiz Direct, LLC for taking a chance on REAGAN and making/distributing a movie that audiences truly love. Every American History teacher in this country should take their students on a field trip to a theater to see it. ???????? #ReaganMovie https://lnkd.in/gpT6dyib

Go see it! ???????? #ReaganMovie
Friends, Do yourself and the film industry a favor and go see REAGAN in theaters this weekend or one night this week. If you want to see it at home through a streaming service, that could be a long, long while. The main reason that we want everyone to see REAGAN is that it reminds us all of what it means to be an American. It doesn’t matter who you are voting for in November, Dennis Quaid delivers a masterful performance that brings the incredible true story of a leader with heart to life. We need leaders with heart and a sense of humor, who don’t see the other party as enemies, now more than ever. That was Ronald Reagan. Yes, Ronald Reagan was considered a conservative icon by many - which is precisely why corporate Hollywood passed on this project for so long. As we all know, Hollywood is failing at the moment in large part due to their fear of greenlighing projects that aren’t sequels or reboots. Passing on a story about one of the most popular or well-known figures in American history is par for the course in a long history of poor decisions made by people who too often have forgotten how to connect with the people they are paid to entertain. REAGAN was financed and produced independently with considerable thanks to my good friends and clients at Alluwee Productions, based here in Louisiana. Executive Producers Dave Roberts (Baton Rouge) and Travis Mann (originally from New Orleans) deserve a lot of credit for making this film happen and for showing us what is possible when you believe in a story and care about your audience instead of flawed metrics and uptight critics (REAGAN’s audience meter is currently running at 97% on Rotten Tomatoes!). REAGAN is just the first of many projects you will see from Alluwee. Stay tuned because we can’t wait to share some news about what’s on deck. ???????? #GeauxTigers #ReaganMovie #WinOneForTheGipper???? https://lnkd.in/gmbgeYxP
