Our founder, Prudence Mbaura, was deeply honored to receive a visit from Alliance For Women And Girls CEO Dr. Vongai Nyahunzvi Head of Networks Abba Kidenda and team members Vimbai Lole and Annesley Ndondo from Alliance for Women and Girls (AFWAG). We are profoundly grateful for their support and recognition of our work in empowering women and girls in Zimbabwe. Their visit was a powerful testament to the transformative impact of collaboration and solidarity. We appreciate AFWAG for amplifying our achievements and for being a dedicated partner in our mission to create a brighter future for our community. Thank you, AFWAG, for believing in us and our mission.
Our CEO, Dr. Vongai Nyahunzvi, Head of Network, Abba Kidenda and two more team members, Vimbai Lole and Annesley Ndondo, recently had the privilege of visiting 22-year-old Prudence Mbaura, the inspiring CEO and Founder of Mukadzi Munhuwo Women's Forum, an organisation based in Zimbabwe and a member of our AFWAG network. Prudence’s remarkable journey demonstrates that leadership transcends age and is defined by vision, passion, and a commitment to positive change. Despite her youth, she is making a profound impact in her community by supporting survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), promoting gender equality, and empowering women and girls with vital skills and opportunities. Under Prudence’s leadership, Mukadzi Munhuwo Women's Forum has already achieved significant milestones: supporting 350 survivors of GBV with counselling, legal aid, and shelter; training 200 community members to become GBV advocates; and empowering 250 women with vocational skills in sewing, knitting, and entrepreneurship. Her organisation has provided computer literacy training to 100 girls, supported 50 women to start their own businesses, and established a mentorship program for 150 girls, resulting in improved academic performance and confidence. Additionally, they have conducted gender equality workshops for 300 community members and distributed educational materials and sanitary products to 500 girls. Prudence’s work embodies the spirit of our AFWAG network, which is dedicated to capacitating grassroots leaders who are deeply connected to their communities. Her story is particularly meaningful to us, as she lives and leads in the same community in Norton where our Founder and CEO, Vongai, grew up. This connection reinforces the power of representation and the importance of investing in leaders who understand the unique challenges their communities face. At AFWAG, we believe in supporting young leaders like Prudence, who are already creating sustainable change at the grassroots level. By providing them with resources, mentorship, and a platform to connect with other leaders across Africa, we ensure that their impact is amplified and their voices are heard. Prudence’s work shows that when women, especially young women, are empowered and equipped with the right tools, they can achieve extraordinary things. We are proud to support her and look forward to seeing how she continues to transform her community. #AFWAG #AFWAGNetwork #Mushandirapamwe #Genderequity #Genderequality
