One year in, and the results speak for themselves. Under President & CEO Terri M. Lee’s leadership,?we have delivered nearly 1,800 new affordable units, preserved over 1,400 homes, and set the stage for transformational redevelopment across the city. Atlanta Business Chronicle recently highlighted how we are moving the needle on affordable housing and ensuring residents have access to stable, high-quality homes. “We’re not just talking about change—we’re delivering it. Every unit built, every home preserved, and every family housed is a step toward a more equitable Atlanta.”?– Terri M. Today is a Day of Action to protect HUD and affordable homes! Join a coalition of stakeholders including CLPHA, the MTW Collaborative, the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO), PHADA_USA, the National Low Income Housing Coalition, the National Alliance to End Homelessness, the National Housing Law Project, and more in our March 10 Day of Action to Protect HUD and Affordable Homes! What’s happening: HUD’s approximately 8,300 employees run affordable housing programs that serve?millions of people nationwide, including children, veterans, seniors and persons with disabilities.?The administration has asked HUD to?cut its workforce by about half, with deep cuts in field offices nationwide and threatened reductions to programs and funding.?Staff and funding cuts to an already under-resourced HUD will reduce government efficiency, increase housing instability and homelessness (especially for low-income families and individuals), and?worsen an already historic national affordable housing crisis. Local communities and businesses will suffer, and property owners will lose rent revenue, which in turn could cause increased mortgage defaults and foreclosures. What you can do:?Join organizations and people nationwide today to take action to protect affordable housing! Learn how to get involved here: https://lnkd.in/e-JGTy9D

Reflecting on an Incredible Week: Bowen Homes Phase 1 Groundbreaking This week, Atlanta Housing and our public-private partners celebrated a pivotal milestone: the groundbreaking of Bowen Homes Phase 1, a $63.6M mixed-income community on Atlanta's Upper westside. This project, supported by a $40M HUD Choice Neighborhoods grant will deliver 151 units—most affordable for families earning 30%-60% AMI. ? This is about more than housing. It’s about: ?? Smart Growth: Catalyzing revitalization along the Donald Lee Hollowell corridor. ?? Economic Mobility: Connecting residents to jobs, education, and healthcare. ?? Sustainability: Green spaces, walkable amenities, and stormwater innovation. ? Grateful to Mayor Andre Dickens, DCA Commissioner Christopher Nunn, Tiffany Cobb, M.S., Deputy Regional Administrator, HUD Atlanta Regional Office, as well as?partners like McCormack Baron Companies, The Benoit Group, and Centene, for their leadership. Together, we’re proving that community-focused development can honor history while building a brighter future.

Today marked a significant step forward for the Bowen Homes community as we broke ground on the first phase of redevelopment. This $63.6M initiative will deliver 151 new units, with 97 reserved for affordable housing, and lays the foundation for a future that includes 2,000 units at 40% affordability. The project also includes a Community Resources Center and Innovation Hub, which will provide job-training opportunities and affordable commercial space for residents. This is a testament to the power of collaboration and commitment to creating equitable, sustainable communities. We’re proud to be part of this transformative effort and look forward to its impact on Atlanta’s future. Thank you to all our partners who helped make this day possible.
