IEEE Women in Microwaves (WiM) Workshop on "RF Engineering for Sustainability" at IIT Kanpur Wraps Up with Meaningful Impact???? We are thrilled to share the success of the third edition of?IEEE Women in Microwaves (WiM)/ IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Workshop, organized by IEEE MTT-S SBC IITK, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, in association with IEEE MTT-S Young Professionals and IEEE MTT-S SIGHT on February 19, 2025, at Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. This inspiring event brought together distinguished experts and participants to discuss the role of RF engineering in building a #Sustainable #Future. We were honored to host insightful talks by: ?? Dr. Anwesha Khasnobish (TCS Research , Kolkata): "A New Era in Smart Healthcare: Microwave Sensing and Imaging" ?? Dr Sulekha Chattopadhyay, (California Environmental Protection Agency, USA ): "Research to Reality – Importance of Collaboration" ?? Prof. Rachna Asthana (Director, DR AMBEDKAR INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY FOR HANDICAPPED , KANPUR) : "Sustainability: The Missing Link", ?? Dr. Seema Awasthi (Senior Project Scientist, IIT Kanpur) : "Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) Effects in Our Life" ?? Dr. Valentina Palazzi (Università per Stranieri di Perugia, Italy): "Energy-Autonomous Wireless Sensors for Green IoT Applications" ?? The event witnessed enthusiastic participation with: ? 32 B.Tech students from Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU), Kanpur, PSIT Kanpur (Pranveer Singh Institute of Technology), and Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur, representing prominent colleges in and around Kanpur. ? 30 school students from Government Inter Colleges. ? 40+ #IEEE #MTT-S members ? 150+ total attendees The workshop saw an engaging exchange of ideas on sustainable technologies, women’s role in #STEM, and the future of RF engineering. To conclude the workshop, ten out of 70 proposals for the IEEE MTT-S SIGHT projects on the 'solar solution challenge' have been recognized by the Dean of Administration Prof. Kumar Vaibhav Srivastava, IIT Kanpur, with a gift and a certificate. These proposals came from nearby schools, and choosing ten out of them was really difficult. After the sessions, we had the privilege of hosting a post-workshop lunch for all the attendees at the Outreach Lawn with our esteemed speakers and their families. ?? A special moment was Dr. Sulekha's visit to Sopan Ashram, where she explored practical, low-cost physics experiments designed by students of Sopan Ashram to enhance the conceptual understanding of school kids. Her insightful discussion with Padam Shri Prof. H C Verma on hands-on learning methodologies made the visit even more enriching.
