The Office of International Affairs at MTSU is charged with providing support and oversight for all MTSU’s international engagements. We promote the comprehensive internationalization of the campus. As such, we encourage all members of the MTSU community to incorporate the international in their work, studies, and activities. The unit is comprised of Education Abroad; the Center for Asian Studies; the Center for Chinese Music and Culture International Admissions and Recruitment; International Student and Scholar Services and the Intensive English Program. Together we serve students that study abroad, international students that study at MTSU and the faculty and staff that support them all. International Education Week is always an exciting and busy week for all of us at the Office of International Affairs, and this year was certainly no different! A lot of exciting things happened this week ahead of International Education Week. First, the USAID Global Scholars hosted an Egyptian dinner for friends they met this semester. President McPhee even stopped by for the dinner. Second, new international student - Essam Mostafa - led the Men's Basketball team in scoring and assists for the first time this season as the Blue Raiders defeated Evansville at home. Yesterday, we took a group of USAID Global Scholars to Rock City and Chattanooga! It was great for them to get out and experience some of Tennessee's beautiful scenery while on their Fall Break! We hope everyone had a great time! #mtsuinternational

MTSU’s Office of International Affairs welcomed five #EducationUSA advisers from Cape Verde, Qatar, Argentina, Kazakhstan, and Belgium. Yesterday, they toured our partner Motlow State Community College, learning more about their academic programs, meeting international students, and giving presentations about their counties of origin. Today, the EducationUSA advisers got a crash course on all things MTSU. They met with International Affairs staff, learned more about MTSU and student life from some of our current international students, and toured the campus and library. #mtsuinternational
Here are some great thoughts from one of our students and their experience while studying abroad.
Now that I have experienced it, I can't believe I was ever so hesitant. I am home once again, and nothing here has changed, but I have. The homesickness I felt so often near the start faded and was slowly replaced by the desire to stay. Recently, the Consulate-General of Japan visited MTSU campus to meet with our office, tour campus, and meet with President McPhee. It’s visits and collaborations such as these that help us grow and bring awareness to our international efforts on campus and around the world. President McPhee and Dr. Ghazal have been on a recruitment tour in the Middle East recently, inviting collaboration between MTSU and local universities there, as well as teaching prospective students about MTSU and our international education opportunities. #mtsuinternational #mtsu
