We are looking forward to seeing how the Budget continues to develop as Legislative Session comes to a close. It's been a long couple of months, and we are proud of the work that our members have put in. As April 7 approaches, MTBMA, the Together For Transportation Funding Coalition, the MOVE Maryland Coalition, and industry voices will continue to advocate for proper funding for our transportation system. Maryland's future depends on it.

Today MTBMA would like to put the spotlight on our member CJ Geo. CJGeo, Inc. is a Virginia-based specialty grouting and lightweight fill contractor, serving industrial, commercial, and public markets across the eastern U.S. Founded in 2002 as Preston H. Roberts, Inc., they evolved from residential site work to grouting in 2008 as Concrete Jack, and rebranded as CJGeo in 2016. In 2023, Concrete Jack spun off as a separate company solely performing concrete replacement & repair in the multi-family market, and in 2024, they officially became CJGeo, Inc. Proudly a second-generation, family-run business, CJGeo is led by brothers Dustin, Kevin, and Kirk Roberts. One year ago, the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge changed Maryland forever. In the face of heartbreak and uncertainty, our industry stood up—ready, united, and determined. With the Maryland Transportation Authority and state leadership, they helped bring order to chaos, laying the foundation for recovery before the dust had even settled. Today, we remember the lives lost. We honor the families impacted. Today, MTBMA members met with BCDOT leadership, including newly appointed Director Veronica Perry McBeth, on this beautiful Friday afternoon. Director McBeth shared her forward-thinking goals for Baltimore City DOT, focusing on improving internal processes, encouraging long-term planning, and fostering a more proactive approach within the agency. She also emphasized expanding access to resources and support for both the department and the broader community. Make sure not to miss the next BCDOT Leadership Committee Meeting on June 12th. We are proud to report a successful Lobby Day for MTBMA, the MOVE Maryland Coalition, the Together For Transportation Funding Coalition - and most importantly, for our industry. Today, members of the aforementioned met with over 30 legislators, including senators, delegates, and their staff. We urged the pressing need for transportation funding in Maryland, and most importantly, for the annual $420 million in Gov. Wes Moore's FY 2026 Budget Proposal to remain. The results were better than what we expected, and the below will now move to the Senate for approval. Key highlights from the House Funding Plan (2026 revenue: $503M): ?? Vehicle Excise Tax increase to 6.8% ($158M) ?? Capital Gains tax increase of 0.75% ($138M) ?? Certificate of Title Fee increase ($80M) ?? Rental Vehicle Excise Tax ($47M) ?? Accelerated Registration Increases ($51M) ?? VEIP Fee Increase ($20M) ?? Historic Tag Fees ($9M) A big thank you to Stephen R.
