There's no better way to celebrate Super Bowl Weekend than with a "Soup"er Bowl Cook Off! ?? This afternoon, MPPD Staff gathered at the Mt. Prospect Golf Club for a chef showdown! Contestants presented their family favorite/secret soup recipes for all to enjoy. Thank you to our community guest judges, Trisha Chokshi, Greg Sill and Bill Starr, for joining us. They crowned Gary's "New Years Soup" as the big winner! The Mt. Prospect Park District's Cultural Arts Department has a new opportunity for a part-time, IMRF-eligible (Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund), Cultural Arts Coordinator. The part-time/IMRF Cultural Arts Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the coordination of programs and directly supervising programs within the Cultural Arts department, mostly involving visual arts. Responsibilities include scheduling and teaching Art Studio classes for beginning to advanced level youth students, assisting with the purchasing and inventory of product, assisting with brochure entries, communication with all parties, registration procedures and other administrative duties as assigned. The part-time/IMRF Cultural Arts Coordinator can expect to work 25 hours per week on average, but less than 1,500 hours annually, with a varied schedule that includes hours during the week and on the weekend. Candidates must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check. The starting pay rate for the part-time/IMRF Cultural Arts Coordinator is $18+ per hour, depending on qualifications. Plus, we offer benefits including IMRF/pension benefits, paid time off, park district facility and programming usage benefits and discounts, and a 457 deferred compensation plan. MPPD Staff gathered at the Art Studio on the first snow day of the year for a friendly Gingerbread Decorating Competition, organized by the District's Employee Committee. #MPParkDistrict #EmployeeCommittee #TeamBonding #TeamBuilding

The District's Employee Committee recently organized their 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, supported by MPPD Staff. Boxed stuffing, instant potatoes, canned veggies, cranberry sauce and gravy were collected to create a non-perishable Thanksgiving meal basket. A homemade Thanksgiving card was added to each basket, created by our very own Preschool, Kinder Klub and Kids Klub students. Our local community partner, Northwest Compass, accepted the baskets once again with open arms and will distribute them amongst the community to families in need. #MPParkDistrict #SeasonOfGiving #EmployeeCommittee #CommunityPartner
