Brandon Cline and I led an amazing group of Mississippi State University College of Business students to visit top financial firms in NYC. We’re so proud of: Madeline Boyd, Katie Carlsen, Noah Carpenter, Lewis Fuller, Reed Hooks, Grant Houston, Nick May, and Joshua Whitehead. Day 1. Wellington Management. We joined an inspiring morning meeting with teams from their Boston, New York, London, and Far East offices, followed by an insightful discussion with Scott Cokely and Ben Krause. Ben provided valuable perspectives on the financial industry. ITE Management. Met with @Meredith Gano, @Steven Mason, and founder Jason Koenig. Jason connected with our students on a personal level, offering guidance on identifying market opportunities and developing the work ethic essential for success. Day 2 BlackRock, where Sarah Siwinski, CFA and Anna Katherine Ray delivered an outstanding presentation. We then engaged with Billy Fox, Timothy Dever, and Lucy Mcleod, who shared their expertise on PE and Hedge Funds, followed by an eye-opening session with Clare Segota. Kinderhook Industries, met Kelsey Stillwagon, Liam Rogers, and Thomas Tuttle. Tom shared his triumphs and early setbacks, offering invaluable lessons on perseverance, adaptability, and building a successful career in finance. Day 3. J.P. Morgan Wealth Management where we had a special welcome from our former student Jalen Sparkman. We met Jesse Rosenstein, CIMA? who provided insights on what a career in asset management entails, and Ian Burrows who shared details of his daily responsibilities. Day 4. At Brightstar Capital Partners we met Cara Toolin, Andrew Chao, and Grant LaFurney who walked us through the key aspects of a successful private equity deal. We are grateful to all the firms that welcomed us and the professionals who took the time to engage with our students. Special thanks to Julia Dunton, CFA from BlackRock for her support and to Ben Duby from TVA for his support in making this trip a success.
