Meet Web & App Developer Intern, Udbhav Saxena ? Udbhav Saxena (he/him) helps student startups at the Burgess Institute with any technical challenges they have, from creating MVPs for apps and websites to creating storefronts for selling products and prototyping their tech ideas! Some of his interests include production and modular synths, speedcubing, and trying hot sauces—he loves spicy food. He is also currently the president of the cybersecurity club and a part of the residential CoRe team in the Michigan State University College of Engineering, where he helps to organize events for freshmen engineers and develop the CoRe app. ??? Meet Graphic Design Intern, Christian Nderu ? Christian is a Visual Identity and UX Designer with a particular passion for startups. He has worked at the Burgess Institute Michigan State University – Burgess Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation as a Graphic Design Intern, helping startups launch their brands and MVPs for over three and a half years. Personally, he is a huge soccer fan and tries to play as much pick-up as his knees allow on weekends. Proud to announce that Team BRCē took home first place at the 2024 Michigan Collegiate Startup Challenge (MCSC) held at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI! ?? Competing against 30 student-led startup teams from colleges across the state of Michigan, we kicked things off with the Elevator Pitch Challenge & Showcase. It was an inspiring two-hour experience, during which we connected with investors, mentors, and other entrepreneurial teams, sharing bold ideas and innovative visions for the future. BRCē was one of the eight teams selected to advance to the Grand Startup Challenge, where we presented a five-minute pitch to a live audience—and I’m thrilled to say we won! Taking home the title of 2024 MCSC Winner and a $5,000 check feels like a huge validation of our hard work, passion, and dedication. We are very grateful to have had this incredible opportunity, to meet so many inspiring student entrepreneurs, and to pitch our vision to industry leaders.
