Industrial Training and Assessment Center @ Michigan State University

The ITAC has been working hard this semester, and we’re only halfway through! We've welcomed several new students who are actively working through their training and preparing for upcoming projects. Two assessments have been completed at industrial buildings so far, where students were able to apply the knowledge they have learned during training. Along with all of the hard work that has been done since January, the ITAC completed four assessments last semester as well! We look forward to continuing our assessments for the rest of the semester, working our way into the summer! Our team is excited to keep up the hard work and make a meaningful impact along the way.

The Industrial Training and Assessment Center @ Michigan State University completed its 3rd assessment this spring last week, led by Senior Energy and Sustainability Analyst Yusuf B. Two more to go this spring, and 20 this summer! We look forward to working many more many small and medium manufacturers throughout Michigan throughout the rest of this year.

The ITAC is thrilled to introduce our new project manager, Jake V. ,and Spring 2024 cohort( Kristen Vance, Emma Claspell, Jenna Vernier, Casey Maxwell, Roshini Ram, Abigale Elliott, Kelly Dunn, Rowan Thomas, Nicole Johnson, Zach Franz, Caden VanderBerg, Daniela Ojeda, Jaewon Han, Aleah Schmottlach, Marin Leboucher, and Isiah Francis). Last week the Industrial Training and Assessment Center @ Michigan State University completed its first assessment of 2025 to identify cost saving, energy savings, emissions and waste reduction opportunities for small and medium manufacturers in Michigan. This first assessment was co-led by Andreana Louise Roxas and Emily Schoepke. Looking forward to 4 more this spring semester and 29 more in 2025! #gogreen

Julianna Thompson - Leadership Excellence (excellent leadership skills, including leading subteams, assessments, projects, and/or other efforts) Katie Tonielli - Assessment Excellence (excellence in leading and participating in all parts of the assessment processes, including pre-assessment, assessment, report writing, and follow up with the company) Yusuf Basmaci - Excellence in Innovation & Creativity (demonstrated significant innovation and creativity to support advancing the mission and efforts of the ITAC program) Andreana Roxas - Mentorship Award (excellence in providing mentorship across subteams, assessments, and projects)

Last week the Industrial Training and Assessment Center @ Michigan State University welcomed our new cohort of 16, and said good bye to our graduating seniors (Josie Caldwell and Michael Burns). We thank everyone for a very successful year of 29 assessments and look forward to 2025! Happy holidays.

??Today: We’re announcing nearly $15 million in funding for 57 small- and medium-sized manufacturers selected across the country to save energy, improve efficiency, and reduce pollution, all while strengthening our domestic #manufacturing sector. These 57 selections are expected to help reduce more than 33,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year. Research highlights included in this article include efforts of MS student Yusuf Basmaci, and undergraduate students Victoria Redruello, Julianna Thompson, and Josie Caldwell. All students complete research projects as a part of this program to improve and advance knowledge in energy and manufacturing efforts.
