The Departments of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) are seeking applications for a tenure-system faculty position in the area of AI-on-Hardware. With the rapid explosion of AI in our daily lives, specialized computer components and equipment are needed that run artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms and models. These hardware platforms are essential for efficient and effective execution of AI tasks, where the type of hardware used depends on the AI workload and use case. Examples include Central Processing Units (CPU), Graphics Processing Units (GPU), Tensor Processing Units (TPU), Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), and memory models for rapid data storage and access.

CSE Lab Spotlight: The Deep Technology Lab! Lead by Dr. Josh Siegel. The DeepTech Lab works across disciplines to create applied technology solutions to meaningful and significant problems that would’ve been impossible yesterday, that are barely feasible today, and that tomorrow have the potential to invisibly change the world.

CSE Lab Spotlight: Computer Vision Lab! Lead by Dr. Xiaoming Liu. The Computer Vision team develops machine learning/deep learning based algorithms to understand or extract knowledge from visual data, including image, video, 3D points, LiDAR, Radar, etc.

Dr. Yu Kong, Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, has been awarded an NSF grant in the amount of $225,000. The project title is “ReDDDoT Phase 2: A User-Centered Platform for Digital Content Integrity”.?

CSE Lab Spotlight: Biometrics Research Lab! Lead by Dr. Anil K Jain. The field of biometrics examines the unique physical or behavioral traits that can be used to determine a person’s identity. Biometric recognition is the automatic recognition of a person based on one or more of these traits. The word “biometrics” is also used to denote biometric recognition methods. For example, fingerprint, face, or iris biometric features are sometimes described as single biometrics. Biometric technology can prevent fraud, enhance security, and curtail identity theft.

CSE Lab Spotlight: Data Science and Engineering Lab! Lead by Dr. Hui Liu and Dr. Jiliang Tang, this group focuses on developing Data Mining and Machine Learning algorithms to discover unknown and actionable patterns hidden deep inside Big Data. In Data Engineering, they strive to design and construct architectures and systems to enable Big Data Management and Analytics.

Dr. Borzoo Bonakdarpour, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, has been awarded the NSF grant in the amount of $150,000. The project title is “Enhancing the Bounded Model Checking Tool for Hyperproperties (HyperQB) for Industrial Applications.”
