The MSP Collective is a 501(c)6 dedicated to informing the U.S. government and critical infrastructure sectors on topics related to the intersection of managed service providers and managed security service providers and national security. Michael McLaughlin just posted a new piece on Federal News Network ?? that includes 10 steps for refocusing #CISA under the new administration. This is a great roadmap of activities that could make a significant impact on how CISA engages with industry. Scott Edwards, the Executive Director of MSPs for the Protection of Critical Infrastructure noted 3 of these that really strike close to home for the #MSPCollective. Please read the whole article, but here are some conversation starters: #5??: Establish a Cybersecurity Marketplace ?? YES! CSPs have one at the FedRAMP Marketplace. #CMMC #C3PAOs have one with the #CyberAB but MSPs / MSSPs (ESPs) are left out. The MSP Collective has created the ESP Directory ( https://lnkd.in/emGcrMQH )for now and it currently has all CMMC L2 certified MSPs/MSSPs in the ecosystem listed. It would be better for it to be run by CISA with 3rd Party Validated standards required to be listed. #6??: Centralize Policy and Regulatory Frameworks ?? YES! Harmonization of frameworks and requirements across Federal Agencies is critical to ensure that the Industrial Base and the MSP/MSSP communities can be successful in protecting critical government data. #9??: Build a resilient Cyber Ecosystem ?? YES! Implementing the baseline security controls required by frameworks like NIST 800-171 can be a complex and expensive situation. We need small businesses with innovative ideas to make their way to the DIB and Federal Contractor Base, but cost is an impediment. Tax Credits and subsidies could ease that burden. Robert Metzger has been a proponent of this and has already been working with various members of Congress on an approach. We all need to get behind this effort. All ESP’s (MSPs, MSSPs) on this list have been validated by the MSP Collective by verifying with the C3PAO that assessed the ESP and awarded the CMMC Level 2 Assessment Certification.?Please contact each provider directly to obtain their Shared Responsibility Matrix, which will demonstrate the scope of services that have been assessed for NIST 800-171 compliance.
