This past week, we had the pleasure of working with the Restore the Mississippi River Delta coalition (MRD). From our meeting, we were able to understand the goals and objectives that MRD seeks to accomplish. Together, we reviewed priority projects alongside members from Restore the Mississippi River Delta, and their coalition team members to create a better environment throughout coastal Louisiana. Our work with US Army Corps of Engineers on the Morganza to the Gulf of Mexico project has begun! On October 18th, we began to familiarize ourselves with the 98-mile project area, including the 4-mile stretch of Reach L Levee that is currently under construction by local sponsors. This initial walkthrough is just one small step towards a hugely impactful #HurricaneandStormRiskReduction project, which places the safety and stability of South Louisiana's coastal communities at the forefront.
