?? Congratulations to Dr. Tristan Clemons and The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) on receiving funding for the SMART Business Accelerator Initiative project! Dr. Clemons' project, "Aqueous Photoiniferter Polymerization of Polyacrylonitrile for Enhanced Carbon Fiber Production," aims to strengthen the commercial viability and patentability of this innovative technology. By leveraging aqueous photoiniferter polymerization, this research seeks to enhance carbon fiber properties through improved polymer precursor chemistry. With this funding, the project will scale up from lab-scale to proof-of-concept, allowing for critical advancements in fiber spinning and carbonization—key steps toward achieving pilot-scale carbon fiber for downstream testing and evaluation. We’re excited to see how this research progresses and the impact it will have on next-generation carbon fiber production. Congratulations again, Dr. Clemons! ??
