0 notifications total OPTIMIZATION AND CONTROL: BOUNDARIES ERASED BY FAST COMPUTERS: ?? The distinction between optimization and control is primarily a matter of semantics and is heavily dependent on the implementation. ?? Interestingly, if one possesses the ability to efficiently solve optimization problems in real-time to close the loop, then they essentially have a feedback control law. ?? Consequently, the same algorithm can be perceived as either solving an optimization or a control problem, solely based on the hardware’s capabilities. ?? As computer hardware architectures continue to advance, the line between optimization and control will become increasingly blurred. ?? However, when optimization is integrated into the implementation of feedback control, the classical challenges of control, such as robustness to model uncertainty, time delays, and process and measurement noise, become significantly important, especially for high-performance aerospace systems.
