"To my colleagues in Khartoum, in Tawila, in Nyala—to our patients across Sudan—this Council’s failure to translate its own demands into action feels like abandonment to violence and deprivation." This week, Secretary General Christopher Lockyear briefed the #UnitedNations Security Council on the humanitarian catastrophe caused by war in Sudan, calling for an end to violence against civilians and a new commitment to deliver lifesaving aid. "The war in Sudan cannot continue to be waged with shameless disregard for civilian lives.” This was one of the messages from my colleague, MSF Secretary General Chris Lockyear, as he briefed the United Nations Security Council here in New York about Sudan humanitarian catastrophe. For nearly two years, this has been a war on people, marked by indiscriminate bombing of densely populated areas, systematic sexual violence, abductions, mass killings, destruction of vital civilian infrastructure, blocked and looted humanitarian aid, and the occupation of medical facilities. We need a new commitment to protect civilians and meet humanitarian needs as millions of lives are on the line. #TalkAboutSudan Read and share the full speech here: https://lnkd.in/eMJZs3NC

#TalkAboutSudan - Almost two years of bearing witness and responding to the needs of Sudanese people displaced throughout Sudan, Chad, and South Sudan, and yet this massive humanitarian crisis still receives little attention.

?? Share this post to break the silence. #TalkAboutSudan Almost 2 years have passed since the war in Sudan broke out, yet many people still do not know the dimensions of humanitarian crisis it has caused, as millions of civilians are caught in the middle of the violence between the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). #Sudan has now the world’s largest displacement crisis. More than 12 million people—over 1 in 5 Sudanese— have been forced to flee their homes, including over 3 million who have crossed the border into neighboring countries like Chad and South Sudan. They have had to leave everything behind to escape the fighting and seek refuge in makeshift camps where they face food insecurity, epidemics, and terrible living conditions. The Sudanese people should not suffer another year in silence. The media and the international community must hear their voice.??

We strongly condemn the Israeli-imposed siege in Gaza, which is depriving Palestinians of basic services and critical supplies. Israeli authorities have instrumentalized humanitarian needs by using aid as a bargaining chip in ceasefire negotiations as people’s electricity supply has been cut off and aid has been blocked from entering the Strip. https://lnkd.in/eV-UdZyh

Surge of violence displaces tens of thousands in Port-au-Prince, Haiti: "The scale of this crisis far exceeds what MSF can respond to alone." Access to clean water is a huge need - we're deploying a water distribution system via tanker trucks in four camps. https://lnkd.in/eCry9wsY
