Dear women of the world...from this hospital bed where compassion heals and hope is shared, I am writing to you. Mothers persevere despite the night's darkness. We awaken with hearts full of courage. ??A message from Nigeria this #InternationalWomensDay ??

Spotlight: Aisha B., a Sudanese refugee and MSF health promoter in Chad. "Let me introduce myself: I am from El Geneina, West Darfur. The war has changed everything. I had a good life. After completing my studies in sociology and urban development, I worked for an NGO for several years. Now, I am with MSF. My current job as a health promoter involves sharing health education and [information about] services available in?Adré transit camp. Communication is a major challenge due to the many languages spoken here, and I work as a link between the medical teams and the patients. Sometimes, just being there to listen helps. Every person has their own story. Everyone has felt the bitterness of loss in Sudan's war—including me. I don't know who will read my words or where. However, I send you my warmest greetings from Chad—and from my heart, also from Sudan." Her letter, from December 2024: https://lnkd.in/eNPHQvhA #IWD2025 #WomensDay

It’s almost International Women’s Day and we want to introduce you to one of the many women at MSF who inspire us. Midwife Solange Ahidjo works in the maternity ward of a clinic in Aboutengue camp, eastern Chad. 80% of Solange’s patients are women who have fled war in Sudan. She and her colleagues in the maternity unit assist around 30 births a week — around four to five babies born each day. Outside of supporting the maternity ward, a dedicated team also provides prenatal and postnatal consultations and operates a mobile clinic. You can read more about Solange and her team’s work supporting mothers and their newborns #IWD: https://lnkd.in/grf7_KDE

With great sadness we are sharing the news of the passing of our colleague, Jerry Muhindo Kavali, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He died from the gunshot wound he suffered while at the MSF base in Masisi town. We stand by his family in this difficult time. We also want to remind the warring parties that even wars have rules. Jerry was a much-loved colleague. He was known for his constant smile, his dedication, his kindness and his unwavering commitment to MSF. Jerry had been with us since 2014. The whole MSF family is in mourning today. We also feel anger, as his tragic death comes against a backdrop of increasing violence in and around health and humanitarian facilities in eastern DRC.
