Over the past two weeks, we’ve been collecting items from my community to send to members of our military in Kuwait. Everyone was so incredibly generous with their donations- both in supplies and donations toward the shipping costs. People also included Christmas cards with sentiments of appreciation, well wishes, and a safe return home to their families. We got it all packed up and ready to ship yesterday- all 275 pounds of it! We are so grateful for my community in Paso Robles and the north county of San Luis Obispo. Everyone really stepped up and leaned in to provide for our troops overseas! With SB-2 going into effect on January 1st, current concealed carry permit holders, those who need to renew or want to apply for a new permit, are going to experience significant changes. These changes include: 1. A minimum 16-hour training course for new applicants (up from a min. of 8 hours) 2. A minimum 8-hour training course for renewal applicants (up from a min. of 4 hours) 3. Broader restrictions on where you can and cannot carry. 4. Allowing private businesses to prohibit guns, or declare themselves as "gun friendly." 5. An 11% tax increase in gun and ammo sales ...And about seven other egregiously unconstitutional laws that California's corrupt governor signed. I hope that the SCOCA will knock this down or at least implement a stay, knowing these laws violate our Second Amendment rights. Gun control is one thing. Violating our constitution is another. Here's a newsflash: CA CCW holders are law-abiding citizens who have gone through DOJ background checks, training, and an extensive application process to obtain their permit. These are NOT the folks you want to restrict nor are they the ones you should be afraid of! We have the right to protect ourselves from criminals who are pouring into this country and running rampant on our streets. I pray the Supreme Court makes the right decisions in favor of our Constitution.
