Southern Maryland was hit hard by this loss—we lost people from our own community, and the pain of these tragic losses is being felt across the area. I had the privilege of accepting, on behalf of my branch, the award for Customer Retention for the second year in a row, as well as the incredible honor of Technician of the Year awarded to Nolyn Hudler. While nerves got the better of me during my speech, I want to take a moment here to fully express what I couldn’t convey then. Retention, to me, isn’t about policies, procedures, or even metrics—it’s about people. It’s about creating an environment where individuals feel valued, supported, and empowered to thrive. Whether it’s our customers or our team members, trust, connection, and genuine care are at the heart of what we do. I truly believe we have a greater responsibility—to be good humans on this planet. That means caring for each other, for our communities, and for the earth itself. This purpose is what drives our branch every day and aligns with the greater vision of the Turfmasters brand. Together, we are setting a new standard for how the green industry can thrive—not just by delivering results, but by leading with heart.
